Dr. Weldyn Houger becomes APEO Director
Effective on July 1, 2010 Dr. Weldyn Houger assumed the role of APEO Director, replacing Dr. John Carter who plans to retire at the end of August, 2010. Dr. Houger recently completed his D.Miss. studies at Biola University. His wife, Barbara, is also completing studies at Biola for her Ph.D. in Intercultural Teaching. The Hougers bring a wealth of experience as Asia Pacific Bible school educators, having served for many years as missionaries in Indonesia and at AG Bible School in Singapore, where Weldyn was President. Weldyn has served as Associate Director for APEO since 2006. For the past several years, Weldyn and Barbara have been teaching as Missionaries In Residence at Northwest University while completing their doctoral studies. During this time they have also made a number of consultation visits to schools in Asia Pacific and participated in APTA and APEO conferences. In their new role, they plan to travel extensively among the schools of the region to provide on-site assistance wherever needed. Dr. John Carter became APEO Director in April, 2005 after leaving the presidency of APTS. He and his wife, Bea, plan to retire in Southern California where their daughter, Kim, and her family live, including two grandchildren and a great grandchild. Their son, Steven and his family, including two grandchildren, live in Sweden. |
